So a little about how I got to where I am in my fitness life. Or where my "why" for starting came from. I started out at the beginning of this year (2015) in a rut. I felt, down, depressed, tired, lacking in motivation, no drive or want to do anything. I pretty much wanted to sleep and do as little as possible. I couldn't find joy in anything. Smiling was a task. I had kept a bunch of weight on after having my now 2 year old and I was eating horrible. Processed foods, fast foods, soda, tons of gluten and carbs and little veggies. I finally decided something needed to change. So I reached out to a person I had known from a long time ago when I actually made an effort for my physical health. She pointed me in the direction of a program called 21 Day Fix. I wasn't sure I could do this but knew I needed to get with it and do SOMETHING. I also joined a "challenge group" that had a few other ladies doing exactly what I was doing in it. The program and the group were amazing! Why? Let's talk about 21 Day Fix first.
So with the program I was able to get straight with my eating, which was killing me. I was so engulfed with eating poorly that my body desperately needed the good things. Whole, clean food! And the big part of that was food portioned appropriately! Those crazy containers that look too small for anyone to eat out of actually made sense when put into practice! This was not just about eating though. It was also getting my body moving. Something that I was severely lacking because I was too tired to do anything. So here is a secret **moves in closer, lowers her voice** the more you move and get your blood flowing, the more energy you have to do things! So I added in this 30 minute workout program that came with 21 Day Fix. And guess what? I started having more energy. I started having motivation to do more. But the key to my weight loss success was when I added in Shakeology. I should say the three things together helped me rock it to my goals. I won't get into Shakeology right now. That is a whole blog in itself lol! But let me tell you, I cannot live without that stuff!!
Now the "Challenge Group". Where did that fit into the mix? So when doing this 21 Day Fix program I was invited into a challenge group. WHY join a challenge group? This group supports the heck out of you. With your coach at the helm motivating and challenging you daily. You are held accountable to check in daily and participate! Oh, but Jen that sounds like a lot of work. Is it work to talk to your friends about your day, or what you are struggling with or excelling at? Guess what, this isn't either! These people become your friends. And having that accountability and support drives you to want to eat those healthy meals and do those workouts every day. This group kept me going when I was not feeling the greatest and having my coach in there encouraging daily was amazing! Don't you feel better when someone is investing in you and cares about whether or not you succeed? Yeah I know I do! And I did succeed!
So that is in a nut shell how I got my happy, motivated, go getting attitude back on track. I am a better wife and better mother for it. I invested in my health and that has turned out to be a priceless decision for me!
Ok, so I got my eating, fitness and life back under control. Then what? Well, I was loving showing others that may be feeling like I did that they can find a way to a better place too. So my coach (who helped me get my plan) suggested I become a coach too. Hmmmm. OK! LOL! Seriously, after a lot of thought and prayer I thought that would be exactly the thing I was meant to be doing. Helping others get fit the same way I was helped to get fit. And guess what?! I L-O-V-E it!! There is nothing better than knowing you have helped, encouraged, motivated someone to believe in themselves and love themselves enough to make a change in their lives towards a happier, healthier future. That whole investing in other people and lifting them up not only means the world to that person but it does pretty well for the person giving it too!
So now that you know all that, you have a little idea of what I do as a coach, how I got here and why. So here is what I want anyone reading this to know. You have to start with "why". Why do you want to change where you are? I also want you to know I am here for you! I want to help you find your balance in your health and wellness. Yes, even if we have never met before. I want to help you. I want to get to know you. I know what it is like to feel in a hole, in a rut, and just plain down about yourself. I don't want anyone to feel that way! But what I think is most important is that you know that YOU ARE WORTH IT!! You are worth the time invested in getting healthy and fit! So remember that when you go to put everything ahead of that. Make time for you because you are worth it!
